| | Dangerous Weapons Act Since 1995, state and federal law requires schools to expel students who possess dangerous weapons, or commit arson or rape in a school building or on school property.
In compliance with state law, the Board shall permanently expel any student who possesses a dangerous weapon in a weapon-free school zone or commits either arson or rape in a district building or on school property, including school buses and other school transportation.
For purposes of this policy a dangerous weapon capable of inflicting bodily harm is defined as a "firearm, gun, of any type, including air and gas-powered guns (whether loaded or unloaded), knives, razors, clubs, electric weapons, metallic knuckles, martial arts weapons, ammunition, and explosives. This policy shall also encompass such actions as look-alike items, false alarms, bomb threats, or intentional calls to falsely report a dangerous condidion.
