KVS Elementary Student Virtual Expectations

Each day will start with the student's mentor holding a virtual morning SOAR meeting to check-in with the student and their general wellbeing, prepare the student for the day, and answer any general questions the student may have. These virtual meetings will take about 30 minutes each day.

Our students will be expected to attend a minimum of 3 virtual learning sessions each week via Google Meets or Zoom. These sessions will be going over & helping students with their weekly assignments that are released via (Canvas/Schoology) at the beginning of each week. Students will be expected to work 3-4 hours a day between their assignments and their virtual meetings.

KVS Elementary At Home Expectations

An at-home learning coach will be designated by their parent/guardian to help them navigate through their curriculum at home. The at-home learning coach will work together with the student's KVS mentor to ensure the student’s academic success. Regular communication is expected between the student, the at-home learning coach, and the mentor throughout the week.

KVS Elementary In-Person Intervention Opportunities

An Academic Intervention Room is available at the Kelloggsville Early Childhood Learning Center with a staff person available to help students with their coursework. The purpose of this room is for students to complete small group work, take assessments, meet with counselors, and get academic interventions as needed. Parents/Guardians may sign their child up for available sessions at the beginning of each semester. The student will be expected to attend the sessions that they have been signed up for the entire semester unless approved by the administration. It is recommended, but not required that each elementary student is signed up for two sessions a week.

1st session:  9:30 AM-11:15 AM  (Monday through Friday)

9:30 AM-11:15 AM:       Reading, Math, & General Intervention/Socialization Group

2nd session: 12:15 PM-2:00 PM (Monday through Thursday)

12:15 PM- 2:00 PM:     Reading, Math, & General Intervention/Socialization Group

KVS Secondary Student Virtual Expectations

Each day the student will be expected to attend a virtual PRIDE meeting with their mentor to check-in with the student and their general wellbeing, prepare the student for their lessons, and answer any general questions the student may have. These virtual meetings will take about 30 minutes each day.

Teachers will release all of the student's coursework at the start of the week. Students should expect to spend 30-45 minutes per class per day to complete work.

Our students will be expected to attend a minimum of 3 virtual lab sessions per course each semester via Google Meets or Zoom.  Lab sessions are approximately a 30 min lesson led by the teacher in real-time. Examples may include but are not limited to writer’s workshop, science experiments, a group project to complete, etc. These lab session dates will be shared with students at the beginning of each semester.

KVS Secondary In-Person Academic Help Opportunities

An Academic Help Room is available at Kelloggsville High School with a staff person available to help students with their coursework. Students will enter through the KDL entrance when attending these sessions. The purpose of this room is for students to complete assignments, take tests, meet with counselors, and get academic help as needed. Students may not attend more than one session a day and do not have to stay for the entire session if they complete their needed tasks.

The Intervention Room will provide students the opportunity to complete assignments, take tests, meet with counselors, and get academic help as needed.
