My name is Saul lvan Flores-Garcia but most in the community know me by lvan. I have been on the board for a year now!

I've been at Kelloggsville since second grade, so Kelloggsville has been a huge part of my life, and I think what's been the most impactful would be the mentorship I've had from teachers over the years at Kelloggsville.

I was actually inspired by my former principal, now superintendent, after he talked to my wife and me about this opportunity, and it was a no-brainer. We were actually wanting to get more involved since we have two of our kids in the district, and this was the perfect opportunity. And it also helps to have so many alumni as staff for Kelloggsville that we went to school with.

In my short time on the board, one of my proudest moments was actually getting sworn in as a board member. I was really nervous about it, but everyone at the meeting made it a great experience. And another moment I'm proud of would be being able to give out diplomas to the graduates of 2025. It was such a memorable experience, and I hope to be able to do the same honor for my kids when they graduate.

Top priorities over the next 3-5 years are academic growth, equitable access to our diverse student body, and the safety and well-being of all students and staff. And to do that, I believe that adding parent involvement is a big priority for the success of our students.

It's an absolute honor to be a part of this amazing community. I'm really looking forward to serving the kids and community in this district.

I am Crystal Reidzans. I have served as a Kelloggsville School Board Member for over 16 years. Two of my children are graduates of Kelloggsville Public Schools. I was inspired to run for the Kelloggsville School Board because I wanted to positively impact the lives of children. The moments that I appreciate the most about being a board member is when I witness students who have worked diligently on their education be rewarded at graduation.

I see the following as what needs to be included in the District's top priorities over the next three to five years:

  • The District should always work to ensure that we are strategically implementing proven curriculum and methods of instruction that maximize student learning, so that students get the instruction and opportunities that they need to be able to compete and to be productive members of society.
  • The District should always work to ensure that we are prioritizing student and staff safety, so that there is the appropriate environment that is necessary to teach, work, and learn properly.
  • The District should always work to ensure that we are strategically spending the funds that we have to ensure that we have the appropriate amount of highly qualified teachers and staff that is necessary to ensure that students are learning properly.
  • The community members can support these goals in a variety of ways. One way parents can help is by partnering with the teachers and ensuring that they give their children the support that they need at home to do well at school. In addition, community members can help by providing mentorship to help children build social/emotional skills that will help them stay safe.
  • Lastly, community members who are talented in educating and managing students can join the Kelloggsville team.

Thank you for the opportunity, privilege, and honor of serving with the Kelloggsville School District.
