Kelloggsville Career Tours

October is Discover Manufacturing month and we are once again participating with KISD and other surrounding districts. We have several scheduled trips to various companies around the greater Grand Rapids area. Links to register for the trips, as well as links to the company websites are listed below. SPACE IS LIMITED TO 12 STUDENTS PER TOUR FOR KHS. Check out the websites and sign-up if you are interested. I will be checking grades and attendance for students that register. I will be meeting with each group before the tours to discuss expectations and more information. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hands On Skills Trade Event 10/30/2025

Hands On Open House
October 30, 12:00pm-2:30pm, 1530 Madison Ave SE

Join us for a FREE event for high schoolers in Kent County interested in careers in the trades. Students meet at the Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation (1530 Madison Ave SE) at noon for lunch and raffle prizes, then head out for a “hands-on” open house experience at 5 skill trade programs within a 3-mile radius. 

Trade School Programs represented: 

YouthBuild Grand Rapids, West Michigan Construction Institute, Job Corps, Next Step of West Michigan, and Urban League of West Michigan

Career Exploration Programs

Launch U - Early/Middle College program designed between GRCC and Kent ISD. Students take GRCC classes in addition to/in place of their basic high school classes. Applications open to 9th grade students starting 2nd semester. Program starts the beginning of 10th grade year.

KCTC - Kent Career Tech Center programs begin in 11th/12th grade. Student visits available through the KISD/KHS starting 1st semester of 10th/11th grade. Students apply to KCTC as 10th/11th grade students

WMCI - West Michigan Construction Institute programs begin in 11th/12th grade. Student visits available starting 1st semester of 10th/11th grade. Students apply to WMCI as 10th/11th grade students and have the choice of selecting General Carpentry or Electrician programs.

Next Steps - Next Step programs begin in 11th/12th grade. Student visits available through the high school starting 1st semester of 10th/11th grade. Students apply to Next Steps as 10th/11th grade students. Selected students participate in the Wood Tech program.

CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant program is a partnership between KHS and the Center for Medical Training. The semester-long program is available to 11th/12th grade students but space is limited. Students have an opportunity to take the CNA-State Certification test upon completion of the program.

RoMan Manufacturing - RoMan Manufacturing developed a 2-year apprenticeship program with KHS for 2 senior students. 11th grade students with a passion for industrial technology, design, welding, etc. have an opportunity to tour RoMan Manufacturing and interview for one of two positions available as 12th graders.

Tours/Job Shadows - Tours/Job shadowing opportunities will be offered throughout the school year for a variety of career pathways. Space may be limited. Sign-ups for tours/job shadows will be available through student school emails.


Kent ISD Student Job Board

The Kent ISD has created a Student Job Board that has jobs across Kent County for students in various careers. The jobs are intended to be entry-level positions.
