September 25th, 2023 Passive Lockdown Information
Dear Community,
At approximately 12:45 p.m. administration received a phone call from Kelloggsville’s school resource officer saying that Wyoming PD was looking into a possible threat in the area and out of precaution asked us to place our High School, Middle School, and Central Elementary into a passive lockdown. We ended up placing all schools in the district into a passive lockdown shortly after our original communication since our district buildings are located so close together.
It was determined that the threat was not credible or valid and had nothing to do with the school system and all schools resumed back to normal operation around 2:30 p.m. Again, this was initiated out of an abundance of precaution to keep our students and staff safe as outside threats were being looked into. At no time was any student in immediate danger during this process and Kelloggsville will continue to take all safety issues seriously and work with local authorities to do so. For this reason, you may see some extra police presence in the next coming days in or around our buildings.
Student and staff safety is always the first priority of Kelloggsville Public Schools. We will work to get you the most accurate information as quickly as possible when there is a safety concern to our school community. We thank you for your continued support as we work together to keep Kelloggsville a safe environment for our students and staff. As always, encourage your students to speak up if they see or hear anything they deem not safe.
Jim Alston
Superintendent, Kelloggsville Public Schools
